The Great Alumni Golf Challenge is coming to Nashville, Tennessee in June 2020. This charity fundraiser will be Nashville’s most challenging and unique amateur golf event ever with up to 72 schools vying for the crown!

Event Timeline

Phase One: School Registration

July–October 2019

Schools’ alumni associations/clubs/groups will confirm their alumni group’s interest in being considered for this event.

Phase Two: Voting

November 2019–January 2020

Alumni will vote to get their school into the tournament. The top 72 schools get in. The more votes a school gets, the more teams they have an opportunity to have in the event.

Phase Three: Team Formation & Bidding

March–May 2020

Teams (two golfers) will form and bid to fill their school’s spots in the tournament.

This event is organized by and benefits Love Helps, inc., an IRS 501(c)(3), public charity working to promote literacy, student achievement and positive character in Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools since 1995. Love Helps, inc. currently serves more than 4,000 elementary students in public schools throughout Davidson County. For more information, visit

  Tournament Details

Two-Person Teams: Two alumni from the same college/university will play as a team on behalf of their alma mater.

Format: Modified, alternate shot format (both players hit a tee shot then alternate the remaining shots on each hole).

Great Start: Players will start the day with a full, hot breakfast buffet, complimentary range balls and a swag bag.

Two Rounds of Play: An initial field of 112 teams will play their first 18-hole round of play in the morning. Then, while participants enjoy an awesome lunch buffet, tournament officials will score and rank teams to determine which 72 teams make the cut to advance to the final round which will be played in the afternoon on the same day.

Champion: At dinner following the second round, the first place team will be crowned champion based on the team’s aggregate score for both rounds of golf played that day.

Other Perks: Golfers will receive complimentary snacks and nonalcoholic beverages on the course.
